Historic election: Establishing Turkey’s Third Parliament

Today, we are experiencing an election carries historic significance. We will vote and put forth our will. Different political parties and views will be revealed in the ballot box. But they are what make this election a turning point. There are other more important aspects than security, political pluralism and the voting taking place under the manifestation of free will.

The election itself does not have any meaning to it. What is more important is what we do it. It is significant if the public’s will is realized, if it elevates the nation and opens up new horizons. Voter turnout in the elections of Western countries is low, because the system there is already fixed and elections don’t promise the public a new vision. Whereas, the elections in Turkey are still crucial. People and social groups think that they will be freer with the elections. They believe that justice and economical situations will be ameliorated. They assume that their living standards will improve. That’s why they vote in the elections, and largely race to the ballot boxes..

There is a reason that this election is a turning point. It is due to the fact that the new head of state, who will implement the presidential system, and parliament will be elected. Who will be the staff to run the new system? This is what we will decide in these elections. Because the nation already made the decision to transition into this new system on April 16. This election is to implement the system, which the nation decided on, and is to serve the Turkey with it. In other words, we will be electing a president. He will preside over the executive power. He will decide with whom to work with in the executive power, and Turkish bureaucracy be formed accordingly. Therefore, the cadres that make up the backbone of the state will be revamped. What is the policy that will carry out this innovation? Which party has the vision, spirit, enthusiasm and the faith that will make it happen? Therefore, our votes will renew the main structure of the state and alter the outdated "bureaucratic oligarchy" that we have always complained about. However, it is also important to have staff members who can do this as well as demanding for it properly.

Secondly, we will create a new parliament. That is why we can call it the Third Parliament. The first Parliament was founded in 1920, and the second in 1923. Now, a third one will be established with the new system. The fate of the third assembly was sealed with various coups, coalition disputes and atomic political pluralism. Substantially, the search for this new system has come about to deal with these problems. To be rid of the situations that was caused by coalition disputes, that couldn’t get things done efficiently, and that was in accordance with political aspirations rather than serving the country…

Moreover, we do not make these alterations through coups. We are conducting a fundamental change through civilian and democratic methods. Today, our voting behavior is the approval of this step and its construction. Henceforth, Turkey wants to follow a path that leads to a stabilized, balanced political pluralism and a reasonable representative parliament. We will choose representatives with our votes for this parliament. In this respect, it is really significant. We are witnessing a historic moment. It is to witness the election of members for the third parliament. We will elect the representatives of a parliament that will only focus on the legislative and act with a new legislative style in Turkey.

Parliament is the blessed place manifested by the will of this nation. Even when our parliament was invaded in Istanbul, it made the decision to save the caliphate and the country. This parliament conducted the War of Independence. It chose Mustafa Kemal as the chief commander. It was based on the sociological reality of Anasir-i Islam (the elements of Islam). We are moving on from the second parliament, which became dysfunctional by coups, coalitions and foreign tutelage, to the third parliament. We are going back again to a stable, autonomous, pluralistic and nation-based parliament. We will elect those who will be the representatives of this today. A grand responsibility, a great decision…

Which political views and who will represent the will of the nation, and the president and cadres, which will serve the people? Who has the faith and vision of the new system? Who will be the president and the cadre that will take responsibility when Turkey rises from its ashes like a phoenix, takes flight for regional leadership, and for growth and justice? This is the political, moral and sociological meaning of our voting behavior. May it be best for our country, nation, the Muslin community, Turkey, Anatolia, the Middle East and the world!
