Petroleum giants meet in Istanbul
Turkish historical city Istanbul hosts an international energy conference with participants submitting more than 800 presentations
The American Association of Petroleum Geologists' annual Energy Conference and Exhibition has opened in Istanbul with participants submitting more than 800 presentations - the highest number in the history of the AAPG conference.
The seventh Energy Conference and Exhibition of the AAPG began on Sunday in the Turkish city and will continue until Wednesday.
Numerous national and international energy companies are both participating and sponsoring the 2014 gathering in the Istanbul Congressium Center, or ICC.
The main sponsor of the conference is Turkish Petroleum Corporation, or TPAO, while others are Chevron, KPC, Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, Shell, Petrobras, Marathon Oil, TGS, OMV, Ion and EXPRO ve World Oils.
The General Chair is Professor Volkan S. Ediger, an academic member of the Kadir Has University, and the host is the Turkish Association of Petroleum Geologists, or TAPG.
Some of the prominent participants are Rocky Becker, the vice president of Exxon's Europe Russia and Caspian Region; Hosnia Hashim, the Vice President of the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Company and Ibrahim Assaadan, the CEO of Saudi Aramco.

A total of 300 presentations will be held over four days in 60 different sessions.
