PM Yıldırım opens 1st Turkish investment bank in London

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has inaugurated the first-ever investment bank founded with Turkish capital in the British capital London.

Yıldırım Sunday evening attended the opening ceremony of a new investment bank by Dome Bank, a joint venture by various partners, including Turkey’s Dogus and FIBA holdings.

“Primarily our economy, and Dogus Holding, FIBA Holding, and other partners, who contributed to this business with their finances, money, and time, will benefit from actions carried out via this investment bank,” Yıldırım said.

Yıldırım, accompanied by Turkey’s EU Minister Ömer Çelik, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Deputy Chair Mehdi Eker, and AK Party acting parliamentary group head Mustafa Elitas, arrived in London on Sunday afternoon.

He is set to attend a dinner in his honor hosted by Turkish Ambassador Abdurrahman Bilgic on Sunday evening. He is also expected to give an interview to the BBC.

Yildirim will meet British Prime Minister Theresa May and address a group of British investors at a breakfast meeting focusing on new investment opportunities.

The premier will receive British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Amber Rudd.

Yıldırım and his delegation will also be hosted at a dinner organized in his honor by Lord Janvrin, the British prime minister’s trade envoy to Turkey.

CEOs from prominent British firms such as BP, Shell, Lloyds, Vodafone, HSBC, Rolls Royce, and GlaxoSmithKline are expected to attend.

Yıldırım’s visit will end Monday evening.
