Turkish Airlines, Air Algerie Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

Turkish Airlines and Air Algerie have formalized a comprehensive strategic partnership through a memorandum of understanding signed in Algiers. The agreement expands codeshare arrangements and explores joint ventures across multiple aviation sectors, aiming to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Türkiye and Algeria.
Turkish Airlines has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Algeria's national carrier Air Algerie, establishing an expanded framework for collaboration between the two flag carriers. The memorandum of understanding, signed Friday during a ceremony at Air Algerie's Algiers headquarters, enhances existing codeshare arrangements and creates new connectivity opportunities for passengers traveling between Türkiye and Algeria.
The agreement enables both airlines to explore joint venture opportunities across multiple aviation sectors including cargo interline services, aircraft charter operations, catering, lounge access, maintenance, and ground handling operations. Additionally, the partnership encompasses collaboration on environmental sustainability initiatives and educational programs, representing a holistic approach to airline cooperation that extends beyond traditional commercial arrangements. The signing ceremony featured Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi and Air Algerie CEO Hamza Benhamouda, with senior executives from both carriers in attendance.
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi characterized the agreement as reflecting "commitment to long-term, sustainable cooperation" and "a significant step toward deepening relations between the two airlines." Eksi expressed confidence that "this partnership will strengthen the cultural and economic ties between Türkiye and Algeria while also supporting mutual growth," highlighting the diplomatic dimension of the commercial agreement between the two national carriers.

Air Algerie CEO Hamza Benhamouda described the comprehensive memorandum as enabling both flag carriers to "expand collaboration opportunities and share competencies," predicting the arrangement would "undoubtedly provide mutual benefits to both institutions and their passengers."
