Following a successful engine export agreement with Brazil, Turkish defense firm Kale Group is now negotiating with 10-12 additional countries for its domestically produced jet engines. Company officials revealed that Türkiye has achieved mass production of three engine types and is developing four new engine projects for missiles and UAVs, positioning the nation among few global engine producers.

Türkiye is advancing negotiations with multiple nations to export its indigenously developed jet engines, building on recent success with Brazil's defense procurement. Kale Group Chairman Osman Okyay confirmed that active discussions are underway with 10-12 countries, with potential for one or two additional export agreements to be finalized within this year, marking a significant milestone for Türkiye's defense industry.

Domestic Engine Production Milestones

Okyay emphasized Türkiye's substantial progress in jet engine technology since beginning development in 2012. The company currently maintains mass production of three distinct engine types and has entered its second year of serial production. Four separate engine development initiatives are simultaneously progressing to address Türkiye's requirements for cruise missiles, fighter aircraft, and kamikaze drone propulsion systems.

Global Market Position and Brazilian Contract

The recent export arrangement with Brazil involved the KTJ-3200 turbojet engine for Brazil's cruise missile program. Okyay noted that jet engines represent one of the most challenging defense technologies to master, with only a limited number of nations possessing this capability. Türkiye's entry into this exclusive group demonstrates the country's advanced manufacturing capabilities and technological sophistication in defense systems.

Regional Industrial Development

Sibel Zorlu, Chair of the Aegean Industrialists' Association, highlighted the Turkish defense and aviation sector's role as a key economic driver. The Izmir region specifically offers substantial potential for industry growth through its free zones, technology parks, and research centers. The area's skilled workforce and established infrastructure position it to emerge as a crucial center for defense and aviation manufacturing development.
