Turkey''s deputy PM warns of broader unrest
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Emrullah Isler hinted that Turkey would probably be dragged into a broader conflict until the municipal elections on March 30th in order to influence results of the March''s polls.
''The parallel structure knows well that it will be dismantled if it can not achieve to have the desired results on March 30th. Turkey could possibly experience some extraordinary events which can influence the poll''s results under today''s circumstances,'' said Isler, as speaking to reporters in the Central city of Konya.
''The structure will try to do its worst until the election''s date. The Election Day will particularly seal their fate. This day has already turned into a matter of life and death for them.''
Isler drew attention that the Gulen-led network may orchestrate a broader operation across the country claiming the municipal elections were rigged. ''However, every possible unrest on streets will be just a poor copy of the last year''s Gezi protests,'' said Isler as referring to the protests following the funeral of the 15-year-old teen Berkin Elvan, injured during the Gezi protests.
Meanwhile, the surveys have displayed a gradual increase in the ruling party''s polling rate despite the political turmoil targeting the elections.
''The ruling Justice and Development Party''s polling rate will probably see an increase of 7 or 8 per cent. We had stood at 38.8 per cent in the previous municipal elections. I expect, we will maintain a figure between 45 and 50 per cent in the upcoming elections,'' Isler asserted.
''However, our poll rate may increase or decrease five or six per cent depending on the developments a few days before the elections.''
