Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan meets with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Ankara, Türkiye on April 10, 2026.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the Dolmabahçe Office in Istanbul on Friday. Infantino presented Erdoğan with a signed jersey, a replica of the World Cup trophy and an official match ball, while TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu also gave the president a national team jersey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Office in Istanbul on Friday. During the meeting, Infantino presented Erdoğan with a jersey bearing his name and the number 26, a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy, and an official World Cup match ball.

Football Diplomacy

The meeting was also attended by Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, Presidential Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. Hacıosmanoğlu presented Erdoğan with a jersey of Türkiye’s national football team. The exchange of jerseys and symbolic gifts underlined the growing importance of football diplomacy as a tool for international outreach.

Türkiye’s Football Ambitions

Infantino’s visit comes at a time when Türkiye is seeking to strengthen its position in the global football landscape.
