Istanbul hosts International Islamic Publishing Workshop on Sept 25-27

The International Union of Islamic Book Publishers will convene its first major gathering in Istanbul from September 25 to 27, drawing more than 200 publishers from 67 countries. Hosted by Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University with backing from Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs, the workshop will feature 12 thematic roundtables and close with the announcement of an "Istanbul Declaration" on global Islamic publishing cooperation.

Erdogan says Türkiye improves PISA 2025 ranking by 50% in all fields

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday that Türkiye advanced its standing by 50% in the latest Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) across reading, mathematics and science, declaring the country the only one to achieve significant gains in all three fields during the 2026-2027 academic year opening in Ankara.

OECD hails Türkiye's PISA results as 'success story' for world

OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher said Türkiye's performance improved across mathematics, reading and science between 2022 and 2025 while the proportion of low-performing students declined significantly since 2015, describing the education system as "truly on the move" and worthy of global attention.

A total of 47 Turkish universities have been included in the Center for World University Rankings’ 2026 list of the world’s top 2,000 institutions. Hacettepe University ranked highest in Türkiye at 666th globally, followed by Istanbul University, Ankara University, METU, and Boğaziçi University.
