Turkish military teams begin mine clearance in Hakkari
Turkish Armed Forces teams have launched a mine and explosive clearance operation in rural Çukurca, Hakkari, close to the Iraqi border. On September 17, 2026, specialized units secured the area before systematically searching terrain cleared during counter-terrorism operations, identifying and neutralizing landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in place.

Funeral ceremony of mother and infant martyred by PKK terror attack
Soldiers have carried the coffins of Turkish soldier's wife Nurcan Karakaya and his 11-month-old baby Bedirhan Mustafa Karakaya who were killed by a roadside bombing held by PKK terrorist organization, during the funeralceremony at the Yüksekova Selahaddin Eyyubi Airport in Hakkari Turkey on August 1, 2018. The bomb went off when a car carrying the civilians passed through the Yuksekova district. The mother died on the spot, while the 11-month-old child succumbed to his wounds at the Yüksekova Public Hospital.
