Home to millions of people Istanbul is the unique city that straddles two continents: Asia and Europe.

The city fascinates its visitors with its natural beauties, skyscrapers rising up to the sky, gilded domes, and minarets of mosques and historical buildings.

Istanbul's July 15 Marty's Bridge also suits its willowy, aesthetic, and gentle style. There are exceptional symbols of the city, where the ferryboats are one of the best reflections of the city.

As Türkiye is commemorating the 570th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul on Monday, May 29, Anadolu's cameras captured the city's symbol landmarks such as July 15 Marty's Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, Galata Tower, Camlica Tower, and Camlica Mosque.

The footage shows a full day and night cycle of the city.

Istanbul, a cosmopolitan city, was besieged 28 times throughout history before its conquest in 1453 by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II.

In recognition of his victory, the 21-year-old ruler was thereafter known as Mehmed the Conqueror.

Constantinople was conquered after a siege that lasted for 54 days with intervals.

The conquest ended the 1,058-year-old Byzantine Empire, brought the Middle Ages to a close, and made Istanbul the proud new capital of the Ottoman Empire.

In a prophecy about Istanbul's conquest by a Muslim ruler, the Muslim Prophet Muhammad said: “Istanbul will surely be conquered; what a good commander is the conqueror, what a good soldier is the conqueror.”
