Actual war may replace deputation war: Turkey's Deputy PM

"An actual war may replace ongoing deputation war unless a human-oriented solution that will satisfy all parties in Syria can be reached," Kurtulmuş says

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş indicated the significance of global factors and the ineffectiveness of the United Nations and other international organizations in the ongoing wars and conflicts in the world, particularly in Syria.

"After the end of the Cold War, none of the international organizations, particularly the United Nations, have the ability to form a balance and find permanent solutions to the problems and conflicts in many countries of the world. We were trying to express this fact when we said, 'the world is greater than five.' These five countries will shape the world as they like, but what about the other 195 countries?" said Kurtulmuş during his speech at a meeting organized by the Anatolian Businessmen's Association.

"We witnessed the insolubility first in Ukraine, and then in Syria. After a five-year-long war in Syria, the problem there has become a problem linked to global terror threats," Turkey's Deputy PM said.

"We (Turkey) warn all parties of the deputation war, particularly the United States and Russia, of a coming actual war, which is to replace the ongoing deputation war unless they come up with a human-oriented solution which will satisfy all the parties in Syria," said Kurtulmuş.

Kurtulmuş also indicated the economic factors behind the ongoing conflicts and unsolved crises and highlighted the necessity for a new economic system.

“If Turkey had said 'the world is greater than five' (countries) when the gross national product per capita of Turkey was 3,000 dollars, then people wouldn't care this much. But today Turkey, which has a 10,000-dollar per capita gross national product, speaks and makes the world listen to it," said Kurtulmuş.

His statements came amid efforts to actualize the Syria peace talks in Geneva, which exclude Daesh and al-Qaeda's Syria affiliate, the Nusra Front from the cease-fire.

The talks aim to end the five-year war in Syria, where more than 250,000 people have been killed and half of the population displaced. Syria has been under intense airstrikes, bombings and attacks from a number of parties, particularly Russian forces, the Assad government and terrorist groups such as Daesh and the Democratic Union Party (PYD).
