President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the successful conclusion of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Ankara, thanking participants and organizers. The event brought together leaders from 32 member states and nearly 100 ministers, with more than 2,500 journalists covering the summit—a record media turnout.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared the 36th NATO Summit in Ankara a success, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions. In a social media post, Erdoğan said the summit, hosted at the Presidential Complex, brought together heads of state and government from 32 NATO allies, nearly 100 ministers, senior diplomats, international organization representatives and guests.

Security and logistics

Erdoğan highlighted that authorities maintained a “delicate balance” between ensuring the highest level of security and protecting citizens’ rights and freedoms throughout the event. Measures for security, transportation, coordination and public order were carefully planned to safeguard leaders while minimizing disruptions to daily life in Ankara. The Presidential National Library served as the international media center, providing workspace for 1,800 people, 40 editing rooms and numerous live broadcast locations. More than 2,500 journalists covered the summit, setting a record for media participation, with Turkish public broadcaster TRT coordinating global distribution through 96 cameras and 26 live transmission points.

Ankara’s international profile enhanced

Erdoğan emphasized that the summit made “a significant contribution” to promoting Ankara on the international stage. He extended heartfelt thanks to Ankara residents for their tolerance and hospitality, as well as to law enforcement, media teams, technical staff, healthcare workers, transportation personnel, protocol officials and catering services. The president also thanked NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for his cooperative approach and efforts in organizing the summit. The event marked a milestone in Türkiye’s diplomatic history, reinforcing its role as a key NATO ally and capable host of major international gatherings.
