President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Presidential Complex in Ankara on Thursday, holding comprehensive talks on bilateral relations as the Western Balkan leader participated in the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit hosted by Türkiye. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the gathering, which has drawn leaders from across the alliance to the Turkish capital for two days of consultations.

Senior officials present

The meeting brought together key members of Türkiye's security and diplomatic establishment. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director İbrahim Kalın joined the talks alongside AK Party Deputy Chairman and spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, and Presidential Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Akif Çağatay Kılıç.

NATO gathering in Ankara

The Ankara summit marks only the second time Türkiye has hosted NATO leaders since the alliance's 2004 Istanbul meeting. The gathering serves as a platform for bilateral consultations between Türkiye and allied nations on political, security, and economic cooperation throughout the high-level event.

Alliance history

Türkiye joined NATO in 1952 and has maintained its membership for nearly 75 years. The country hosts key alliance infrastructure and has consistently contributed to collective defense operations across multiple theaters.
