Erdogan: Israel seeking pretexts to resume Gaza attacks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused Israel of looking for excuses to breach the current ceasefire and restart its military operations in Gaza. Speaking at a forum in Istanbul, he cited Israel's history with promises and highlighted the extensive destruction and use of hunger as a weapon.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Friday that Israel is actively seeking pretexts to violate the ceasefire agreement and resume its attacks on Gaza, while asserting that Hamas is adhering to the deal. He made these remarks during his address at the TRT World Forum held in Istanbul.
Questioning Israeli Promises and Actions
President Erdogan expressed deep skepticism regarding Israel's commitment to the truce, noting, "Everyone knows Israel’s terrible record when it comes to keeping its promises." He questioned how a nation possessing nuclear weapons and the capability to strike Gaza at will could be considered innocent, pointing to the widespread destruction of schools, mosques, churches, and hospitals.
Global Failures and Broader Conflicts
Erdogan also criticized international institutions tasked with maintaining global peace for their failure to stop the violence and prevent what he described as genocide. He further commented on the Russia-Ukraine war, expressing his belief that a middle ground would soon be found, allowing the neighboring nations to coexist peacefully. Additionally, he strongly condemned the ongoing atrocities against civilians in Sudan's El Fasher city.
A Call for Self-Reflection
The Turkish leader concluded with a call for global introspection, emphasizing that despite advancements in communication technology, the continued deaths of children from Asia to Africa obligates everyone to question their role and responsibility in ongoing conflicts around the world.
