Context of the visit
Queen Mathilde is currently in Türkiye leading a Belgian economic mission, which includes about 450 participants, including roughly 250 business leaders. The mission focuses on pharmaceuticals, logistics, sustainable energy, digital transformation, and defense and aviation cooperation.
Bilateral relations
Türkiye and Belgium have maintained strong economic ties, with bilateral trade valued at around €13 billion ($15.2 billion). Belgium ranks fifth among EU countries in trade with Türkiye. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévost recently said "there is no possibility to discuss any European security architecture without Türkiye in it."
