Erdoğan urges preservation of Gaza ceasefire in Kuwait talks

During an official visit to Kuwait, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed the critical need to preserve the hard-won Gaza ceasefire and reiterated Türkiye's commitment to a two-state solution. He also discussed enhancing bilateral ties with Kuwait and building a common future for Syria with Arab states.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized the vital importance of safeguarding the recently established ceasefire in Gaza during high-level talks in Kuwait. Meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Turkish leader championed a two-state solution as the only path to durable peace and highlighted the significance of a unified Islamic stance on the issue.
A Unified Islamic Stance for Lasting Peace
According to a statement from the Turkish Communications Directorate, President Erdoğan identified the preservation of the "strenuously achieved ceasefire" as a critical priority. He asserted that a two-state solution is imperative for a lasting resolution to the conflict and stressed the importance of the Islamic world maintaining a common position. The discussions, part of President Erdoğan's Gulf tour, also covered broader regional and global issues.
Türkiye's Stance on Syria and Bilateral Cooperation
The Turkish President reaffirmed his country's firm resolve to uphold Syria's political unity and territorial integrity. He expressed a desire for Türkiye to collaborate closely with brotherly Arab nations to build a promising future for the Syrian people. On bilateral matters, President Erdoğan noted that the existing cooperation with Kuwait in investment, energy, trade, and the defense industry holds strategic importance and possesses significant potential for further enhancement.
Strengthening Ties with the Gulf Region
President Erdoğan also acknowledged Kuwait's role in promoting regional stability in its capacity as the current Chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He pointed to the ongoing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Türkiye and the GCC, stating that such a pact would substantially strengthen Türkiye's commercial relations with all its Gulf partners.
