Erdogan voices solidarity with Palestinians, criticizes Netanyahu

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed solidarity with Palestinians and accused Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu of blocking Turkish aid to Gaza. He spoke as health authorities report hundreds of casualties since a ceasefire began in October.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people, praising their continued "spirit of resistance" amidst ongoing hardship. Speaking at an awards ceremony in Istanbul, he sharply criticized Israeli leadership for obstructing humanitarian assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip.
Ankara's Aid Blocked, Says Erdogan
President Erdogan stated that Türkiye has repeatedly offered to send container shipments of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including through United Nations channels. He directly accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of rejecting and refusing these Turkish initiatives, preventing the delivery of critical supplies.
Continuing Violence Despite Ceasefire
The remarks come amid reports of persistent violence. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli military actions have killed 424 Palestinians and wounded 1,189 others since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire began on October 10. This continues a devastating conflict that since October 2023 has resulted in over 71,000 fatalities and more than 171,000 injuries, with widespread destruction across the territory.
