Iran's ambassador to Beijing said concrete guarantees are needed to prevent the US from restarting the conflict, calling for multilateral cooperation to ensure regional stability. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli expressed hope that China, Russia, Türkiye and Pakistan can work together to secure peace in the region following the temporary ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.
Iran names four countries
"We hope that different parties, the UN Security Council, major countries like China and Russia, and mediator countries like Pakistan and Türkiye, can work together to ensure peace in the region. We hope the war ends and the ceasefire becomes permanent. At the same time, we need reliable guarantees," Fazli said.
Ceasefire context
The US and Iran announced a two-week temporary ceasefire on April 8, following weeks of conflict that began when the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on Feb. 28. The ceasefire was brokered with Pakistan's mediation, and talks are scheduled to begin in Islamabad on Friday. Iran's mention of Türkiye as a key country for securing peace reflects Ankara's active diplomatic role throughout the conflict.

Regional cooperation
Fazli's call for multilateral cooperation reflects Iran's desire to involve multiple international actors in ensuring the ceasefire holds and preventing future escalation. China and Russia have vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on the Strait of Hormuz, while Türkiye and Pakistan have played active diplomatic roles in mediation efforts.
