NSC vows to protect Türkiye’s borders, backs Iran de‑escalation

Türkiye’s National Security Council welcomed efforts to end the US‑Israel war on Iran while vowing to continue border security measures “meticulously.” The council warned that the conflict creates major global uncertainty and urged the international community to act against Israel’s attacks in Lebanon and its violations in Gaza and the West Bank.
Türkiye’s National Security Council, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the presidential complex in Ankara, expressed support for de‑escalation efforts in the US‑Israeli war on Iran, while stressing that all necessary measures to protect Turkish citizens and national borders will be implemented without compromise. The council noted that the ongoing conflict is generating profound uncertainty both regionally and globally, and is having a negative impact on world economic balances.
Counterterrorism and regional stability
The council reaffirmed that ongoing wars and provocations “will not derail the terror‑free Türkiye process” and vowed to completely remove terrorism from the country’s agenda. It reviewed operations against the PKK and its offshoots, FETO, and Daesh/ISIS conducted at home and abroad. On Lebanon, the NSC warned that Israeli attacks are causing “new humanitarian tragedies” and reiterated strong support for Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also called on the international community to act against unlawful Israeli actions.
Gaza, West Bank and Syria
The statement condemned Israel’s ceasefire violations in Gaza, its land seizures in the occupied West Bank, and provocations undermining the historic and legal status of Al‑Aqsa Mosque and Al‑Haram Al‑Sharif, saying these harm the peace process and the two‑state solution. On Syria, the council underlined support for implementing the recent integration agreement in a way that strengthens Syria’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and unity on the basis of “one state, one army,” in cooperation with allies and partners.

Russia‑Ukraine war and Türkiye’s diplomatic role
The NSC also discussed the course of the Russia‑Ukraine war, stressing that any spillover of attacks into the Black Sea or threats to energy security would not be tolerated, and called on all sides to act with restraint. Türkiye, which has made it a principle to resolve disputes through negotiation and diplomacy, will continue its sincere peace efforts in cooperation with allies and friends at a time when wars and conflicts are deeply shaking the international security environment.
