Polish president to visit Türkiye for bilateral talks

President Karol Nawrocki will pay a two-day official visit to Türkiye starting Tuesday, at the invitation of President Erdoğan. The leaders will review bilateral ties and discuss regional and global developments.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki will arrive in Türkiye on Tuesday for a two‑day official visit, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran announced Monday. “At the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Polish President Karol Nawrocki will pay an official visit to Türkiye on June 23‑24, 2026,” Duran said on X. The leaders are expected to review Türkiye‑Poland ties and discuss steps to further strengthen existing cooperation.
Bilateral relations and regional issues
The talks are also expected to include an exchange of views on current regional and global developments. Türkiye and Poland have maintained strong relations as NATO allies, with cooperation in defence, trade, and energy. Bilateral trade volume reached approximately $10 billion in 2025, and Polish companies have invested in Türkiye’s infrastructure and logistics sectors. The visit comes at a time of heightened tensions in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, with both countries coordinating on NATO’s eastern flank security.
Context of the visit
Nawrocki’s visit follows his recent decision to revoke the Order of the White Eagle from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy over a WWII dispute, a move that has strained Poland‑Ukraine relations. For Türkiye, which maintains good relations with both Poland and Ukraine, the visit offers an opportunity to discuss regional security and NATO cooperation ahead of the July summit in Ankara. Turkish officials have expressed hope that the visit will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two NATO allies.
