Somalia praises Türkiye's security support in high-level talks

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has formally expressed gratitude for Türkiye's steadfast support in security and counterterrorism efforts, highlighting Ankara's role as a key strategic partner during high-level talks in Mogadishu.

The Turkish delegation's visit occurs amidst heightened regional tensions following Israel's controversial recognition of Somaliland as an independent state in December. Somalia has firmly rejected this move, reiterating its "non-negotiable commitment" to its sovereignty and territorial unity. Somaliland, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991, operates autonomously but lacks widespread international recognition.
