Stronger Turkic Cooperation builds resilience to global crises, Turkish FM Fidan says

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has articulated a vision for a self-reliant and unified Turkic world, asserting that deepened cooperation is the key to navigating an era of profound global change. His remarks were delivered in Gabala, Azerbaijan, during a meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Council of Foreign Ministers, highlighting the bloc's strategic direction.

Minister Fidan stressed that the ongoing institutionalization of the OTS and its increasingly coordinated policies are transforming the bloc into a more robust entity capable of withstanding international crises. He framed this collaborative institutional stance as a collective shield, making member nations more resilient to external shocks and geostrategic shifts affecting the region.

Outlining the foundations of Türkiye's foreign policy, Fidan pointed to three core objectives for fostering regional stability: ceasing active conflicts, developing fair economic cooperation that delivers mutual benefits, and building sustainable institutions. He stated that Türkiye leverages its regional influence and leadership to advance this cooperative and humane framework, moving beyond outdated paradigms of dominance.

Fidan concluded that by continuing on their current trajectory of strengthening individual state capacities in technology, defense, and infrastructure, the Turkic nations will collectively form a much stronger structure. He expressed confidence that this path would lead to a Turkic world better prepared to face future global challenges, a topic set for further discussion by the organization's leaders.
