Thousands gather at Istanbul's Taksim Square
Thousands of supporters of both the ruling and opposition parties merged in one of the most colossal protests held in Istanbul's Taksim Square on Sunday evening to protest the coup bid of the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ/PDY) aimed at toppling the democratically-elected government. Members of both Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and main opposition parties Republican People's Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) were present for the spectacular event once again displaying wall-to-wall Turkish flags as far as the eye could see. “The Turkish parliament was hit by a bomb; however, parliament did its duty and repelled the coup attempt,” said CHP Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during the demonstration at the central Istanbul's Taksim Square to show their unity and solidarity. “The people who live in Turkey should come together and resist any possibility of another coup attempt in these days,” Kılıçdaroğlu said.
