Turkish defense firm Roketsan plans $3B infrastructure expansion

Roketsan CEO Murat Ikinci announced a $3 billion infrastructure boost to expand domestic missile production and space launch capabilities. The firm has already completed a $1 billion first phase, including Europe’s largest warhead plant and a fuel production complex in Kirikkale.
Turkish defense giant Roketsan is set to invest $3 billion in expanding its production infrastructure, CEO Murat Ikinci told reporters at a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday. The company has already completed the first $1 billion phase of the initiative, anchored by a $450 million fuel production plant in the central Turkish city of Kirikkale, which will significantly boost Türkiye’s domestic fuel output. The expansion also includes a new technology R&D center that will employ 1,000 workers—described as Europe’s largest warhead manufacturing plant.
Mass production of ballistic missiles, anti-tank weapons
The new infrastructure will enable domestic mass production of anti-tank weapons, penetration warheads, and Tayfun ballistic missiles. Ikinci outlined the firm’s financial roadmap, stating: “We aim to add another $2 billion to this amount with the new investments we will make in the coming period, bringing the total to $3 billion.” The ceremony was also attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This week marks the start of the next phase of construction for a new air defense and ballistic missile production plant on a 72,000-square-meter (17.7-acre) complex.
Exports surge over 100%, space goals advance
Roketsan secured over $10 billion in new orders last year as a defense supplier to nearly 50 countries, with total export volume surging more than 100%. The firm plans to reinvest all generated revenue into infrastructure and mass production capabilities to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and its growing international buyer portfolio. Ikinci added that Roketsan is also accelerating Türkiye’s domestic space exploration goals via its Simsek 1 and Simsek 2 programs, nearing the launch phase of homegrown satellites using completely domestically manufactured space vehicles. As global conflicts—including the US-Israeli war on Iran—increase demand for precision munitions and air defense systems, Roketsan’s expansion positions Türkiye as a rising defense export powerhouse.
