The foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan discussed the US-Iran peace process on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held separate phone calls with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The ministers exchanged views on upcoming follow-up negotiations aimed at establishing lasting peace between Iran and the US, the sources added.
Coordination and follow-up
The calls come as Pakistan, which led the mediation effort between Washington and Tehran, prepares for a signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday. Türkiye has maintained close ties with both Iran and the US and has offered to host follow-up talks. Egypt, a key regional power with influence over Hamas and Gaza, is also playing a diplomatic role. The three-way coordination reflects shared interests in stabilizing the region and ensuring the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Fidan’s discussions likely covered the implementation of the agreement, including nuclear verification and sanctions relief.
