Turkish, Kuwaiti FMs discuss regional ceasefire in phone call

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Jarrah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held a telephone conversation Thursday to discuss regional developments and the temporary ceasefire, Turkish diplomatic sources confirmed. The call focused on the latest situation in the Middle East amid ongoing tensions and the fragile truce between the US and Iran.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in diplomatic talks Thursday with his Kuwaiti counterpart Jarrah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, addressing the rapidly evolving regional situation and the recently brokered temporary ceasefire, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources. The conversation underlined Ankara’s continued commitment to maintaining close coordination with Gulf partners during a period of heightened volatility in the Middle East.
Coordination on Ceasefire Implementation
The two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments surrounding the two-week pause in hostilities between Washington and Tehran, which was announced on Tuesday following intensive Pakistani‑led mediation. Both sides reiterated the importance of ensuring that the ceasefire is fully respected on the ground and that all parties refrain from any actions that could derail the fragile peace process. Türkiye, which has consistently advocated for dialogue and de‑escalation, views such consultations as essential for building a unified regional approach to security.
Türkiye’s Active Regional Diplomacy
Fidan’s call with his Kuwaiti counterpart is part of a broader diplomatic push by Ankara to help stabilise the region. In recent days, the Turkish foreign minister has also spoken with the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other key actors. Türkiye remains ready to support all efforts aimed at achieving a lasting and just peace, and to prevent further civilian suffering in the conflict that has claimed thousands of lives since February 28.
