Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and first lady Emine Erdoğan were seen for the first time on Tuesday with their newly adopted shelter dog Leblebi as they took a stroll with man’s best friend on the grounds of the Presidential Complex in Ankara.
The photos, which were shared by the official account of the first lady on Twitter, quickly went viral on social media, receiving thousands of likes and shares from users.
“This morning, I saw the president off accompanied by Leblebi,” the caption read.
Marking World Animal Day on Oct. 4, Emine Erdoğan had announced earlier this year that the Turkish first family would be adopting a disabled dog while visiting an animal shelter in Istanbul’s Fatih district.
Leblebi had undergone four surgeries after a traffic accident left the poor dog with multiple hip fractures.
