During an official visit to Tbilisi, Turkish Health Minister Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu and Georgian officials signed a pivotal memorandum of understanding. Türkiye and Georgia have solidified their partnership in the health sector by signing a significant memorandum of understanding in Tbilisi on Tuesday. The agreement, inked during Turkish Health Minister Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu's official trip, marks a strategic step to broaden bilateral collaboration for the benefit of citizens in both nations.

High-Level Diplomatic Engagements

Minister Memişoğlu held talks with his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Sarjveladze, at the Georgian Health Ministry. Following this, the Turkish delegation was received by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Official statements highlighted that the discussions focused on the strategic cooperation between the two countries and the tangible results already achieved through their existing health sector collaboration.

Strengthening Services and Access

The high-level meetings emphasized that the close partnership has directly contributed to providing quality health services and improving financial access to vital medicines. Prime Minister Kobakhidze expressed confidence that the newly signed pact will serve as a foundation to further develop and enhance the fruitful cooperation between Türkiye and Georgia in the coming period.

Expanding the Scope of Cooperation

As part of the visit's itinerary, Minister Memişoğlu also met with Zaza Lominadze, the head of the Georgian Parliament's Health Committee. The tour included a visit to the renowned Lugar Laboratory in the Georgian capital, signaling an interest in broadening the scope of collaboration to include specialized medical and scientific research fields.
