Türkiye has launched its sixth humanitarian aid vessel to Sudan, carrying 2,600 tons of essential supplies for people affected by the ongoing conflict. The shipment, organized by Turkish disaster authorities in cooperation with Qatari and local partners, includes food, medical items, and shelter materials as part of Ankara's sustained relief efforts in the region.

Türkiye has dispatched another major shipment of humanitarian assistance to Sudan, marking the sixth maritime aid mission aimed at alleviating the severe crisis caused by the African nation's ongoing internal conflict. The vessel departed from the Mediterranean port city of Mersin on Saturday, carrying vital supplies for displaced Sudanese civilians.

Contents and Coordination of Aid

The latest "Goodness Ship" is transporting 2,600 tons of aid, including food parcels, personal hygiene products, medical supplies, and shelter materials. The operation was coordinated by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in collaboration with local authorities, civil society organizations, and the Qatar Fund for Development. This multi-stakeholder approach aims to ensure efficient delivery and distribution of assistance.

Continuity of Turkish Humanitarian Efforts

AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan emphasized the consistency of Türkiye's response to the Sudanese humanitarian emergency. He noted that in 2024 alone, Türkiye had already delivered 5,500 tons of aid to Sudan, followed by three vessels last month carrying 30,000 tents to address critical shelter shortages. "We began sending goodwill ships on Dec. 7, taking into account how the shelter needs had reached a critical level," Pehlivan stated.

Broader Regional Humanitarian Engagement

While focusing on Sudan, Turkish officials also highlighted continuing aid operations for Gaza. Pehlivan announced that the 20th aid ship to Gaza is scheduled to depart next week, bringing the total aid delivered to nearly 105,000 tons. These parallel efforts underscore Türkiye's active role in addressing humanitarian crises across multiple regions through sustained logistical and material support.
