Türkiye home sales rise 2.6% in April to 126,808 units

A total of 126,808 houses were sold in Türkiye in April, up 2.6% from a year earlier, TurkStat data showed. Istanbul led with 23,852 sales, while mortgage-backed sales jumped 40.5% and new home sales rose 9.6%.
A total of 126,808 houses were sold in Türkiye in April, up 2.6% from a year earlier, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday. The figure compares with 123,569 housing sales recorded in April 2025. Istanbul led the market with 23,852 sales, followed by Ankara with 11,680 and Izmir with 7,215.
New vs. second-hand sales
New home sales jumped 9.6% year-on-year to 40,306 units, while second-hand sales fell 0.3% to 85,502 units. Mortgage-backed sales jumped 40.5% to 25,771 homes, accounting for 20.3% of total transactions, reflecting increased borrowing activity.
Foreign sales
Sales to foreign buyers declined 1.1% to 1,516 units, with Russians, Chinese, and Iranians among the top purchasers. The decline in foreign sales may be linked to regional instability following the Middle East conflict.

Year-to-date figures
In the first four months of the year, total house sales stood at 476,204 units, up 0.5% year-on-year. The housing market remains resilient despite economic pressures and regional tensions.
