Türkiye signs COP31 host country agreement at Bonn climate talks

Kurum, who serves as president of the upcoming summit, finalized legal preparations for the November gathering in Antalya, according to a ministry statement posted on the NSosyal platform.
Regional Outreach
During his visit, Kurum held talks with the African Group of Negotiators, the Alliance of Small Island States, the Umbrella Group of 11 countries, and the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean, the ministry said. He also met with delegates from the Arab Group and German State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth to discuss expectations for the upcoming negotiations.
Kurum listened to the groups' wishes and underlined that Türkiye would continue working for a process in which no negotiating party is left behind, the statement noted.
Antalya Conference
The 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is scheduled for November 9-20 in the southern Turkish resort city of Antalya. The event will convene delegates from nearly 200 countries to negotiate climate commitments.
Kurum emphasized that Ankara's constructive cooperation with the UN secretariat would continue to grow in the coming days, according to the ministry. The host country agreement establishes the framework for the conference's organization and security arrangements.
