Türkiye Supports Any Plan to Stop Genocide in Gaza: Erdogan

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Türkiye endorses any plan designed to halt the ongoing violence and establish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Speaking during a public address in the Black Sea city of Rize, Erdogan emphasized his nation's commitment to a peaceful resolution for the Palestinian territories.

Erdogan stated that Ankara hopes the recently brokered truce between Israel and Hamas will pave the way for enduring peace, calm, and security. He urged Israel to comply with the terms of the agreement and to abandon policies that heighten regional tensions. The Turkish president also acknowledged the negotiation efforts supported by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar, highlighting the collaborative diplomatic push.

In his remarks, President Erdogan commended Palestinian groups, specifically noting that "our Palestinian brothers and sisters — especially Hamas — have shown a wise and determined attitude, indicating their readiness for peace." He described the ceasefire as a first step that has begun to restore hope, even if cautiously, to the people of Gaza after a prolonged period of hardship.

Asserting Türkiye's influential role beyond its borders, Erdogan positioned the nation as a key actor in regional diplomacy. He firmly reiterated that a two-state solution is the essential foundation for lasting peace, beneficial for Muslims, Christians, and Jewish people alike. "No matter what anyone says, every effort... that brings joy to the oppressed and the afflicted in Gaza is valuable to us," he stressed.
