Praise for Regional De-escalation Efforts

The ministry specifically welcomed what it described as the "prudent stance" adopted by Saudi Arabia in the face of recent hostilities. It also acknowledged the steps taken by both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to foster security and stability within the war-torn country. This diplomatic support from Ankara aligns with ongoing regional attempts to mediate and contain the latest flare-up in violence, which threatens to unravel fragile political processes.

Background: Separatist Advances in the East

The immediate cause for concern stems from military actions by the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a separatist faction. Since December 3, STC forces have taken control of parts of the eastern province of Hadramout and, days later, expanded into the neighboring province of Mahra.
