Türkiye's Duran: Ankara stands 'on right side of history' in regional crises

Türkiye has stood "on the right side of history" in regional and global crises and will continue its diplomatic efforts to reduce risks, Türkiye's Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said on Wednesday. Duran stated on NSosyal that the country has "kept diplomacy alive" under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to mitigate regional and global risks.

Erdoğan's diplomacy

He added that recent developments have demonstrated "the importance of diplomacy" and confirmed the correctness of Erdoğan's approach. Duran said the president has been conducting "leader diplomacy in the most effective way" since the beginning of conflicts in the region to ensure peace and stability.

Ceasefire support

He also emphasized that diplomatic initiatives will continue to support ceasefire efforts. "The president's diplomatic moves will continue with determination to ensure the ceasefire and not to waste the opportunity for lasting peace," he said.

Regional context

Duran's comments come as a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran took effect, following mediation efforts by Pakistan. President Trump announced the suspension of strikes contingent on Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with talks set to begin in Islamabad on Friday. Türkiye has maintained intensive diplomatic engagement throughout the conflict.
