Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has declared that strengthening unity within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is the essential path to lasting peace and stability. Addressing a meeting in Azerbaijan, he urged member nations to act in harmony on geopolitical issues and speak with a unified voice. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has asserted that a unified and coordinated approach among Turkic nations is the fundamental requirement for achieving enduring peace and long-term stability in the region. He delivered this message at the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Gabala, Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the organization must evolve into a primary actor in shaping regional dynamics.
A Call for Coordinated Action
Minister Fidan stressed that the Turkic world must convene more frequently to formulate collective positions against global challenges. He outlined that the path to this goal depends on enhanced coordination and partnership, acting in concert on the geopolitical stage, and presenting a united front on critical international issues. The OTS, he noted, draws its greatest strength from the deepening trust among its member states, which include Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
Solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Regional Stability
A key point in Fidan's address was the reaffirmation of solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), an observer state of the OTS. He described its inclusion as a reinforcement of Turkic unity and labeled the lifting of the "unjust isolation" on the Turkish Cypriot people a shared responsibility for all members. On the South Caucasus, Fidan welcomed recent diplomatic progress, including the joint declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting that new transport lines could help revive historic Silk Road routes.
