Türkiye’s High Advisory Council urges sustained ceasefire after Iran attack

Türkiye’s Presidential High Advisory Council called for maintaining the ceasefire following what it termed an “unlawful attack on Iran,” emphasizing ongoing contacts with all parties to preserve regional stability. The council also reviewed domestic unity, the “Terror-Free Türkiye” process, and responses to a deadly school shooting.
The Turkish Presidential High Advisory Council convened on Wednesday under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and stressed the necessity of sustaining the ceasefire after the “unlawful attack on Iran.” Communications Director Burhanettin Duran stated that contacts with all relevant parties continue to preserve calm and stability in the region.
Regional and domestic agenda
The meeting addressed regional conflicts, recent global developments, and the “Terror-Free Türkiye” process. The council reviewed steps taken and future measures to advance Türkiye across key sectors including defense, communication technologies, transportation, energy, urban planning, and tourism despite regional challenges. Strengthening internal unity was discussed in detail, with emphasis on national cohesion as a key factor in countering threats.
Response to school shooting
Comprehensive judicial, administrative, sociological, and cultural measures to combat all forms of violence were evaluated, particularly following a deadly shooting at a middle school in Kahramanmaraş province on Wednesday. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi confirmed that nine people were killed and 13 injured, six critically. Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer said the attack was carried out by an eighth-grade student for reasons not yet known.
