Türkiye's tourism industry demonstrated robust growth in the third quarter of 2025, generating $24.25 billion in revenue according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday. The 3.9% year-on-year increase came as the country attracted 23.64 million visitors between July and September, reflecting a 1.9% rise in arrivals compared to the same period last year.
Increased Visitor Spending
The latest figures indicate that tourists are spending more during their stays in Türkiye, with average expenditures per capita climbing 1.8% to reach $1,017. This translates to approximately $100 per night, demonstrating the continued appeal of Türkiye's tourism offerings and the quality of experiences available to international visitors across the country's diverse destinations.
Expenditure Breakdown and Travel Purposes
Package tour expenditures constituted the largest share of tourism income at 33.6%, followed by food and beverage services at 19.9% and international transportation at 11.1%. The majority of visitors (73.8%) came to Türkiye for travel, entertainment, and cultural activities, while 17.3% visited relatives and friends, and 3.7% cited shopping as their primary purpose for visiting.
Broader Tourism Trends
The positive third-quarter performance contributed to a strong cumulative result for the first nine months of 2025, with total tourism revenue reaching $50 billion, a 5.7% increase year-on-year. During this period, Türkiye welcomed 49.17 million visitors, representing a 1.8% growth, while outbound travel by Turkish citizens also increased by 3% to 3.38 million people, indicating balanced growth in both inbound and outbound tourism sectors.
