Israeli military data released Sunday shows 16 soldiers have been killed and 690 wounded since February 28 in attacks linked to Iran and Lebanon. Among the wounded, 96 are seriously injured and 42 critically. Two soldiers were killed earlier Sunday by explosive devices in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military announced on Sunday that 16 soldiers have been killed and 690 wounded since February 28 in attacks linked to Iran and Lebanon. Of the wounded, 96 sustained serious injuries, 42 are in critical condition, and the remainder suffered moderate or minor wounds. Currently, 149 soldiers remain hospitalized. In the past 24 hours alone, 37 soldiers were wounded, most of them “as a result of explosive devices,” the military said without specifying the exact location.

Roadside bombs in southern Lebanon

Earlier Sunday, the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that two soldiers were killed and 12 others wounded in two separate explosive device incidents in what is referred to as the “Yellow Line” — an unofficial boundary extending 4 to 10 kilometers inside Lebanese territory along the Blue Line. Maariv noted that roadside bombs in Lebanon had been “a nightmare” for Israeli forces during their decades-long occupation of southern Lebanon. The figures could not be independently verified due to Israeli restrictions on wartime information.

Ceasefires hold but no final deal

The current conflict escalated after a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran began on February 28 and spread to Lebanon on March 2, with Iran and Hezbollah responding with missiles, drones, and attacks on US assets. A two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran took effect on April 8, and President Trump announced a separate 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon, but no final agreements to end the wars have been reached.
