Aid dumped by Israel from Gaza flotilla washes ashore on Gaza beach

Food supplies that activists were forced to throw into the sea during Israel’s illegal interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla have washed ashore on Gaza’s Sudania Beach. The incident highlights the humanitarian crisis in the blockaded enclave, where aid was dumped just 600 nautical miles from its destination.
Food supplies that activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla were forced to dump into the sea during Israel’s unlawful military intervention have washed ashore on Gaza’s northern coast, according to a post by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor President Ramy Abdu.
Aid dumped 600 nautical miles from Gaza
The Global Sumud Flotilla’s 2026 Spring Mission, aimed at breaking Israel’s blockade and delivering life-saving humanitarian aid to Gaza, was illegally intercepted by Israeli forces on the night of April 29 off the coast of Crete, just a few nautical miles outside Greek territorial waters. During the attack in international waters, Israeli forces detained 177 activists and subjected them to mistreatment. Supplies carried by the flotilla never reached their intended destination. Photographs shared by Abdu showed a barrel of pickles, cakes, wafers, and rice that had drifted ashore at Sudania Beach in northern Gaza.
A symbol of a broken blockade
The images serve as a stark reminder of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where more than two million Palestinians remain under a crippling Israeli blockade. Türkiye has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the flotilla and continues to lead international efforts to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Turkish officials have called for accountability and an end to what they describe as “state piracy” on the high seas.
