Arab states reassert Palestinian right to state on International Day of Solidarity

On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, key Arab nations including Kuwait and Egypt issued strong statements reaffirming the Palestinian right to self-determination and an independent state. They called on the international community to uphold these rights and hold Israel accountable, citing ongoing aggression and violations.
Arab states have collectively reiterated their firm stance on the Palestinian issue, using the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to demand the right to self-determination and sovereign statehood. The annual observance, marked globally on November 29, was established by the UN in 1977 to champion the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
Kuwait and Egypt's Firm Stance
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry released a statement reinforcing its long-standing position, expressing unwavering solidarity with the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people. It specifically called for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Similarly, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Palestinian right to a state is a historical entitlement supported by international law, not merely a political demand.
Calls for International Accountability
The diplomatic statements included direct appeals to the global community. Kuwait urged international bodies to shoulder their responsibilities, end the injustice faced by Palestinians, and protect holy sites. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs itself echoed this, calling for strengthened global solidarity and rejecting inaction in holding Israel accountable for its war crimes.
Context of Ongoing Atrocities
The reaffirmations of support come amidst a backdrop of heightened tension. The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed Al-Yammahi, noted that this year's solidarity day occurs under extremely grave conditions due to the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and escalating violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem. He stated that Palestinians are suffering from siege, displacement, and systematic violations.
