China responded Monday to the cancellation of a high-level German diplomatic visit by emphasizing its commitment to equal and respectful bilateral relations. The statement from Beijing comes after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul postponed his scheduled two-day trip to China last week, highlighting diplomatic tensions between the two economic powers.

"Given the current circumstances, it is all the more important and imperative for the two sides to uphold mutual respect, equality and win-win cooperation and advance the bilateral relationship along the right track," stated Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing in Beijing. He further emphasized that "China views and develops its relations with Germany from a strategic and long-term perspective," suggesting Beijing's approach transcends immediate diplomatic disruptions.
