Türkiye's first lady Emine Erdogan will host spouses of heads of state and government attending the NATO Summit in Ankara on Tuesday at the Cankaya Presidential Mansion, with proceedings focusing on digital age risks facing children and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Digital Safety Roundtable
The roundtable titled "Children, Technology and Security: Protecting the Next Generation" will bring together more than 20 spouses of NATO leaders to address emerging digital threats. Discussions will center on protective strategies for minors, multistakeholder cooperation frameworks, digital literacy initiatives, and ethical guidelines for online safety across allied nations. The meeting aims to raise awareness of online risks and encourage the exchange of best practices among participating countries.
Cultural Heritage Showcase
Following the working session, Erdogan will host a luncheon featuring traditional Turkish cuisine in a hall adorned with Iznik tiles and tables dressed in embroidered linens. The spouses will later tour an exhibition of Anatolian textiles and handicrafts spanning Mesopotamian, Ottoman, and early Turkish state traditions, concluding with a family photograph.
The cultural program highlights Türkiye's diplomatic tradition of combining policy discussions with heritage displays, reflecting Ankara's role as the summit host. Participants will view pieces representing civilizations that shaped the region's history, from ancient Mesopotamia through the Ottoman Empire.
