Erdoğan blames Israeli government for ‘unlawful war’ on Iran

The Turkish president says the conflict has turned the region into a battle zone and imposed an economic burden on all humanity, vowing Ankara will continue pursuing peace.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday held the Israeli government primarily accountable for the ongoing war against Iran, describing the conflict as unlawful and damaging not only to the region but to the entire world. Speaking at his Justice and Development (AK) Party’s parliamentary group meeting in Ankara, Erdoğan said: “The Israeli government bears primary responsibility for this unlawful war, which has not only turned our region into a zone of conflict but has also imposed an economic burden on all of humanity.”
Erdoğan warns of Netanyahu’s political calculus
The Turkish leader also drew a direct link between the continuation of hostilities and the political future of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “It must not be forgotten that every drop of blood shed in the war will prolong Netanyahu’s political survival,” Erdoğan said, suggesting that prolonging the conflict serves the Israeli leader’s domestic interests.
Ankara committed to peace efforts
Despite the escalating tensions, Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s determination to pursue diplomatic avenues. “Our hope is that the path to peace will be opened without further bloodshed, and for this, we will continue to do everything we can, even if it means putting ourselves on the line,” he said. The remarks underscore Ankara’s active diplomatic role in seeking de-escalation amid a conflict that has drawn in multiple regional and global actors.
