Widespread flooding has displaced approximately 11,000 people across seven Malaysian states, with Kelantan province experiencing the most severe impact. The northeastern state reports over 8,200 victims as heavy rainfall continues, while Selangor becomes the latest region affected by rising floodwaters.

Severe flooding has displaced nearly 11,000 residents across seven Malaysian states, with the northeastern province of Kelantan bearing the heaviest impact of the ongoing natural disaster. According to the latest official figures, a total of 10,922 people have been affected by rising waters, requiring emergency assistance and relocation to safer areas as continuous rainfall exacerbates the situation in multiple regions.

Kelantan's Critical Situation

The northeastern state of Kelantan remains the epicenter of the flooding crisis, with 8,248 victims from 3,022 families reported as of Monday morning. This represents a significant increase from the 7,830 individuals affected the previous night, indicating a rapidly deteriorating situation. Authorities have described conditions in Kelantan as critical, with persistent heavy rainfall hampering relief efforts and threatening further displacement in the region.

Variable Conditions Across Affected States

The flooding impact varies considerably across the seven affected states. Perlis experienced the most dramatic overnight increase, with victim numbers surging from 114 to 811 people. Penang also reported rising numbers with 242 affected individuals, while Perak similarly saw an increase in flood victims. Some regions including Kedah and Terengganu reported decreasing numbers, providing limited relief to emergency response teams operating throughout the country.

Expanding Geographic Scope

The disaster's geographic reach continues to expand, with Selangor becoming the latest state to report flooding incidents. This development adds to the growing list of regions requiring coordinated emergency response and relief distribution. The widespread nature of the flooding across multiple states presents significant challenges for national disaster management authorities, who must allocate resources across numerous affected communities simultaneously.
