Frederiksen unveils third Danish government with reshuffled cabinet

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced her third government on Wednesday, unveiling a four-party coalition that reshuffles key ministers including the finance and justice portfolios, though the new center-left administration will lack a parliamentary majority and must rely on external support from left-wing allies to govern effectively.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday unveiled her third government, presenting a four-party coalition that reshuffles senior ministers including the finance and justice portfolios, the Prime Minister's Office said. The new administration comprises 21 ministers — 11 women and 10 men — drawn from the Social Democrats, Moderates, Socialist People's Party and Social Liberal Party, according to the official statement.
Key ministerial appointments
Peter Hummelgaard moves from the Justice Ministry to head the Finance Ministry, while Nicolai Wammen takes over as justice minister, reversing their previous cabinet positions. Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, leader of the Moderates party and one of Denmark's most prominent political figures, will retain his post in the new administration.
Pia Olsen Dyhr will serve as minister of economy and interior, Jeppe Bruus becomes defense minister, and Martin Lidegaard takes the business and competitiveness portfolio. Christina Egelund was appointed minister for research, education and digitalization, with Samira Nawa named minister for climate, energy and utilities.

Parliamentary arithmetic
The center-left coalition does not command a majority in the Folketing and is expected to govern with support from smaller left-wing parties including the Red-Green Alliance and the Alternative. Frederiksen formally presented her ministers to King Frederik X at Amalienborg Palace on Wednesday morning, while outgoing cabinet members are scheduled to attend a farewell audience later in the day.
