Freed activist Greta Thunberg condemns Gaza situation as genocide

Following her release from Israeli detention, climate activist Greta Thunberg has sharply criticized the situation in Gaza, labeling it a "live-streamed genocide." She was detained while participating in an aid flotilla attempting to break the blockade and deliver humanitarian supplies to the Palestinian territory.
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has publicly condemned the ongoing conflict in Gaza, delivering her first remarks after being released from Israeli custody. Thunberg, who was detained while aboard the "Global Sumud" aid flotilla, shifted focus away from her personal ordeal to what she described as a larger, critical issue facing the Palestinian people.
Speaking at Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, the prominent activist stated that a "genocide" is unfolding in Gaza for the world to see. She asserted that no one can claim ignorance of the events, accusing Israel of actions intended to "erase an entire population" and deliberately worsening a humanitarian crisis through a siege.
Thunberg was among 171 activists detained by Israeli authorities after the military intercepted their humanitarian convoy en route to Gaza. The flotilla, reportedly the largest collective attempt to deliver aid by sea, was seized, and its passengers were subsequently deported to countries including Greece. The incident has drawn international attention to the stringent blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Beyond Gaza, Thunberg connected the plight of Palestinians to other global conflicts, mentioning Sudan, Congo, and Afghanistan. She argued that governments are complicit by failing to act and called for an end to international support for Israel's military campaign, emphasizing that states have a legal obligation not to be complicit in genocide.
