Fresh conflict sparks despite US strike on ISIL
US strikes may fail to stop advance of ISIL militants in northern Iraq
Fresh clashes have been sparked in seven different spots in northern Iraq between the Kurdish peshmerga forces and the militants from the al-Qaeda off-shoot, or ISIL, according to local sources.
A coalition of 72,000 Kurdish peshmerga forces and 3,400 militants, linked with Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, have been battling with militants from ISIL. While the ISIL sent all its militants to Sinjar from Ramadi and Anbar, some PKK militants have been dispatched from Qandil to Mahmour and Sinjar to reinforce the battling aimed to push back the Sunni extremists.
The local sources say it is almost impossible to fend off the ISIL from the region if the US troops, do not launch a joint offensive, backed by the Turkish military, because the recent the US strike has only ceased the advance of militants to Arbil, a key province hosting state offices and parliamentary building of the regional Kurdish authority.
Meanwhile, ISIL militants have seized 15 more towns surrounding the province of Mosul since launching a weekend offensive. The ISIL is now expected to launch a fresh counter-attack to create a new logistical line, en route to Arbil. The militants are said to be 30km close to the Kurdish capital.

The Kurdish authority has been in regular contact with the US intelligence officials from Qatar, Berlin and Baghdad to find a permanent solution in order to clean the region of the Sunni extremists in the aftermath of intensifying ISIL offensive. The US drones were seen flying over the northern Iraq for surveillance at night. The US officials have also collected new intelligence from the tribal leaders in the region.
