Gaza ceasefire violated as Israeli strikes injure four Palestinians

Fresh Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Monday injured at least four Palestinians, including a child, marking the latest breach of a tenuous ceasefire agreement. The incidents bring the total Palestinian casualties since the truce began to over 400 killed and 1,100 wounded, according to officials in Gaza.
Medical sources reported that an Israeli quadcopter drone launched a missile at a group of civilians near a restaurant in the central Gaza's Bureij refugee camp, wounding three individuals. In a separate incident in northern Gaza, a young man was shot and injured by Israeli forces in the town of Beit Lahia. Both targeted locations are areas from which the Israeli military had previously withdrawn under the terms of the ceasefire deal that took effect on October 10.
Mounting Casualties Since Truce Began
The Gaza government media office stated that Israeli military actions since the start of the ceasefire have now resulted in at least 411 Palestinian fatalities and 1,112 injuries. Palestinian authorities have consistently accused Israel of repeatedly violating the terms of the agreement. The broader conflict, which escalated in October 2023, has led to a devastating total of nearly 71,000 Palestinian deaths and over 171,000 injuries, according to figures from the besieged coastal enclave.
Context of the Fragile Ceasefire
The ceasefire, intended to halt a prolonged period of intense conflict, remains fragile. These latest strikes underscore the ongoing tensions and the challenges in maintaining the truce. The repeated violations threaten to unravel the agreement and return the region to a state of full-scale hostilities, drawing continued international concern and diplomatic efforts to uphold the peace.
