Greek FM: Gaza must remain at center of diplomatic interest

Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis stressed that Gaza must stay at the heart of diplomatic efforts, calling for unimpeded humanitarian aid and full implementation of the peace plan. He also welcomed Lebanon-Israel talks and underlined the importance of the Strait of Hormuz for global shipping.
Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis said on Thursday that Gaza must remain a central focus of international diplomacy, speaking at a news conference following talks with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in Athens.
Gaza and West Bank as one entity
Gerapetritis stated that Gaza and the West Bank constitute “a single and indivisible territorial entity” for the creation of a Palestinian state through a political process leading to a two-state solution, allowing Israelis and Palestinians to live together in peace and security. He warned that the humanitarian situation remains a major concern. “Gaza must remain at the center of diplomatic interest, with the main priority being the enhanced and unhindered provision of humanitarian assistance to the region, as well as the full implementation of the peace plan and the implementation of the second phase of this plan,” he said.
Lebanon talks and Hormuz crisis
Welcoming direct talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, Gerapetritis said Lebanon is “an extremely important country for the balance in the wider region.” He also noted the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, underlining the importance of keeping the strategic waterway open for global shipping, energy sectors, and the world economy. He highlighted Athens’ strong commitment to relations with Riyadh and expressed willingness to expand cooperation in energy, trade, and connectivity. Türkiye supports a two-state solution and continues to advocate for uninterrupted humanitarian access to Gaza, while also emphasizing the need for stability in the Strait of Hormuz for global energy security.
