Hamas warns Israeli execution order is ‘dangerous escalation’

Hamas has condemned a new Israeli military order allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners as a “dangerous escalation” and a violation of international law. The group urged the UN and global human rights bodies to force Israel to revoke what it called a “racist decision.”
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has sharply criticized an Israeli military directive that permits the death penalty for Palestinian detainees, describing the move as a major provocation and a breach of global legal standards.
Hamas slams ‘criminal’ decision
In an official statement on Monday, Hamas said the order “represents a dangerous escalation, a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws, and an extension of a policy of criminality.” The group added that “this cowardly criminal decision will not deter our struggling people from continuing their legitimate struggle and resistance in defense of their land and holy sites.” Hamas called on the international community, the United Nations, and all human rights organizations to apply pressure on Israel to rescind what it termed an “invalid racist decision.”
Israeli legal moves intensify
Israeli media outlet Channel 14 reported late Sunday that Defense Minister Israel Katz had instructed the military to enforce the death penalty law against Palestinian prisoners accused of carrying out fatal attacks on Israelis. The directive follows a military order signed by Avi Bluth, head of the Israeli army’s Central Command, authorizing capital punishment for detainees from the occupied West Bank. In March, the Knesset passed a law allowing execution of Palestinians convicted of lethal attacks, and last week approved the establishment of a special military court for alleged Hamas operatives.

Prisoner numbers and conditions
According to Palestinian and Israeli rights groups, more than 9,600 Palestinians—including 350 children and 73 women—are currently held in Israeli detention facilities, where they reportedly face torture, starvation, and medical neglect.
